The 2022 NFL Draft is only a couple of weeks away and it is sneaking up on us. After the Jacksonville Jaguars select number one overall, the Detroit Lions will have the second overall pick in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. Detroit head coach Dan Campbell wants an immediate starter with this selection.

He will try and build a football team around quarterback Jared Goff in the meantime. General manager Brad Holmes will also have two first-round picks in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. There are sports news about what they will possibly do with the number two overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. What are the odds for what the Detroit Lions will do with the second overall pick in this draft?

Aidan Hutchinson and Travon Walker +250

Aidan Hutchinson and Travon Walker are co-favorites to be the number two overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The only problem with Hutchinson is that he has -300 odds to be the number one overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Aidan Hutchinson is the best player in this NFL Draft.

He had 62 total tackles last season, 14 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. If Hutchinson is passed on by Jacksonville for an offensive lineman for some odd reason, the Detroit Lions will trip over the podium getting that pick in.

As for Travon Walker, he was on the Georgia Bulldogs elite defense last season. A lot of mock drafts have him going number two overall. Walker is a workout warrior, but what has he done in games? Also, was he the one that got that defense going or was it someone else on that Georgia Bulldogs football team?

He only had 33 total tackles in 13 games. Walker also recorded six sacks, two pass deflections, and one fumble recovery. Travon Walker is going to be drafted high based upon upside. The numbers don’t really tell the story here about him potentially being drafted second overall in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.

The Vegas odds are usually never wrong about it happening. So Vegas must know something that we don’t about this potentially happening for the Detroit Lions.

Kayvon Thibodeaux +400

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is a big fan of defensive end/EDGE rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux out of Oregon. The question is whether or not the front office will draft him. Thibodeaux has been up and down in a lot of NFL Mock Drafts. He has been as high as number two and has slipped to as low as number 10.

Kayvon Thibodeaux has the second-best odds to be the number two overall pick in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. He makes more sense to be the number two overall pick rather than Travon Walker out of Georgia does. Thibodeaux is not a project in the making like Walker is. The question with him is his motor, but his skill set is already there.

Kayvon Thibodeaux played in 10 games last season for Oregon and recorded 49 tackles and 12 of them were for a loss. He also had seven sacks, one pass deflection, and two forced fumbles also.

Malik Willis +500

Malik Willis has the third-best odds to be drafted second overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. The only way this is happening is if a team like the Carolina Panthers, the Atlanta Falcons, or the New Orleans Saints trade up with the Detroit Lions for this spot.

It is possible this could happen, but it is very highly unlikely. Dan Campbell likes Jared Goff better than Malik Willis most likely. Willis played his college football at Liberty.

He completed 61.1% of his passes last season for 2,857 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Willis also rushed for 878 yards on 197 carries and 13 touchdowns. He is going to be a dual-threat quarterback at the next level and will be very good with the right coaching as a very raw prospect.
